Beginning with a shed that was being converted into a home for Douglas and Bec designer, Bec Dowie and her young family, the brief given to Verso Architecture + Interiors was to design a kitchen that would fit well with the space.
A fusion of Scandinavian and Japanese design elements inspired the use of solid oak and the simple utilitarian layout, which features easy-access cabinets and under-bench open storage. The terrazzo benchtop was hand-poured by Bec’s father, Douglas, who also handcrafted the cabinetry.
The resulting design fits well with the rural aspect of the property as well as being modern and accessible.
